Din l-Art Helwa is to launch its new Heritage DVD – A Tale of Two Towers. The launch will take place at the Ministry for Gozo and will see the dream of Din l-Art Helwa’s volunteer Carolyn Clements and her hard-working team come true.

With the aid of a Grant by Eco Gozo, the team has engaged in the production of this 26-minute DVD which was filmed and produced by Alvin Scicluna of CVC Media Group, Gozo on location in Gozo and Comino, featuring in particular The Santa Maria Tower in Comino and the Dwejra Tower, Gozo, both of which are held in guardianship by Din l-Art Helwa.

The DVD depicts the story of the towers the construction of which was recommended by Military Engineer Giovanni Rinaldini, who was brought over from Italy in 1599 by Grandmaster Garzes, to give his expert advice on the defence of Gozo. The text is narrated and was written by Din l-Art Helwa volunteer, John Barnes, while acting parts have been entrusted to Albert Gauci, as Engineer Rinaldini, Terry Shaw as Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt and Paul Barnes, as Grand Master Juan de Lascaris-Castellar.

The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono will officially launch the DVD on Friday, the 20th of January at 6.30pm.

The film will be shown, free of charge, during the launching ceremony. The general public are invited to attend together with volunteers and members of Din l-Art Helwa. School Heads attending will be given a free copy of the DVD for school showings. Light refreshments will be served.
